Who is this retreat for?

Building practical skills for emotional balance, connection, and lasting change!
This retreat is designed for adults who want to build practical skills for managing emotions, relationships, and life challenges within a supportive and structured therapeutic environment.

The retreat may be particularly suitable for individuals who:

  • Experience intense emotions, mood instability, or emotional overwhelm
  • Struggle with stress, burnout, or chronic anxiety
  • Find relationships challenging, including difficulties with communication, boundaries, or closeness
  • Notice patterns of over-control, such as perfectionism, emotional inhibition, self-criticism, or social withdrawal
  • Want to develop greater mindfulness, flexibility, and emotional balance
  • Are currently engaged in individual therapy and would benefit from immersive skills practice

This retreat is ideal for those seeking a skills-based, structured program rather than a traditional wellness or holiday retreat. Participants are supported to apply DBT and RO-DBT skills in daily life, while maintaining an ongoing connection with their individual therapist.

"WISE Mind Retreats offer immersive, evidence-based therapeutic retreats that combine Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Radically Open DBT skills training with restorative experiences in natural settings." "Our programs are designed to help individuals build practical emotional-wellbeing skills, strengthen relationships, increase psychological flexibility, and support lasting, positive change in daily life." "With structured therapeutic learning, individual therapist access, nourishing meals, and mindful activities, each retreat balances growth with rest, reflection, and rejuvenation."

Dr. Peter King, Retreat Lead

What's included?

Access to DBT &/or RO DBT

The retreat integrates Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Radically Open Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (RO-DBT) skills training within a supportive, structured environment.

DBT skills training
is designed for individuals who experience difficulties with emotion regulation, such as intense or rapidly changing emotions, impulsive behaviours, difficulty tolerating distress, or challenges in relationships.

RO-DBT skills training
is designed for individuals who experience patterns of over-control, such as emotional inhibition, perfectionism, social withdrawal, or high self-criticism.

Skills are taught experientially and applied within daily retreat life, supporting participants to practice new ways of responding to emotions, relationships, and challenges in real time.

Activities

In addition to structured therapeutic sessions, participants can enjoy a range of relaxing and enriching activities designed to support balance, enjoyment, and connection.

Optional activities may include:
  • Island visits and coastal excursions

  • Ethical elephant sanctuary experiences

  • Opportunities for rest, exploration, and cultural engagement

These activities provide space for enjoyment and integration, supporting wellbeing while complementing the therapeutic focus of the retreat.

Individual Therapy Access

Throughout the retreat, participants are encouraged to remain in regular contact with their individual therapist.

Maintaining regular contact with your individual therapist helps consolidate skills learned during the retreat, supports continuity of care, and assists with translating insights and practices into sustainable, long-term change.

To support this, the retreat provides two private consultation offices equipped for online sessions, allowing all participants to access their individual therapist at least once per week during their stay.

Airport Transfers

For your convenience, complimentary airport transfers are included as part of the retreat.

All participants are collected from Phuket International Airport at the start of the retreat and transported back to the airport at the conclusion of the program, ensuring a smooth and stress-free arrival and departure.
